North Dakota State Tops Bradley Volleyball

FARGO, N.D. – Sophomore Erica Haslag (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias Catholic) tallied a team-high nine kills to lead Bradley, but the Braves fell to tournament-host North Dakota State 25-18, 25-14, 25-17 Saturday night to wrap up play at the North Dakota State Classic.

Bradley (2-4 overall) trailed 16-14 in the first set before North Dakota State (1-6 overall) answered with five consecutive points. Emily Miron had back-to-back kills to key the run for the Bison and later added another kill and block to pace NDSU to a 25-18 victory.

In the second set, North Dakota State jumped out to a 5-1 lead and quickly pushed the advantage to 11-3. The Bison went on to take the second set 25-14, hitting .333 in the frame.

The Braves had their best offensive set of the night in the third, hitting .308 in the stanza. North Dakota State was even better on the offensive end, however, with a .423 attack percentage. Bradley pulled within four at 20-16 on a Taylor Thiele (Aurora, Neb./Aurora), but a service error by the Braves started a 4-0 NSDU run. Freshman Kathryn Graf (Edina, Minn./Edina) stopped the spurt with a kill to help Bradley fight off a match point. North Dakota State closed things out on the next serve with McKenzie Burke notching a kill to close out the three-set victory (25-17).

Haslag led the Braves offensively with nine kills and also collected five digs. Sophomore Allison Turner (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) added seven kills and four blocks to help pace the Braves.

Bradley returns to action Sunday with a 3 p.m. contest at South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D.
