CHESTERTON, Ind. -- Junior Ethan Brue (Chandlerville, Ill./AC Central/Illinois Central) fired a two-under 70 to claim individual medalist honors and the Bradley men's golf team turned in a three-under 285 Wednesday to claim the team title at the season-opening Crusader Collegiate.

The three-under 285 by the Braves in the final round is the sixth lowest score in school history and helped Bradley to an impressive 30-stroke victory.  The Braves three-round total of 864 is the second lowest score in program history, two shots off the program mark of 862 set last fall.  Valparaiso was second overall at 894, nine shots ahead of third-place Wright State (903), while Detroit rounded out the field in fourth at 920.

Brue started the final round tied with junior Zach Jewell (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) for top honors in the field at even par and carded a two-under 70 at the par-72 Sand Creek Country Club to win medalist honors by one stroke with a three-round score of 214 (two under).

Playing near his hometown, senior Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) turned in the lowest round of his career with a three-under 69 to move into a tie with Valparaiso's Zach Cutler for second in the field at one-under 215.

The Braves had four of the top six finishers in the field, with Jewell tying for fourth overall at 217 and sophomore Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) sixth at 218 after the duo both shot one-over 73's on the final day of play.

Sophomore Branden Mounce (El Paso, Ill./El Paso-Gridley/Illinois State) improved in each round of his Bradley debut, capping the event with a one-over 73 as he tied for 13th overall at 230 to round out the team scoring for the Braves.

Fellow sophomore Sam Range (Waterloo, Ill./Gibault Catholic) was one of three individuals in the field for Bradley and came up one stroke short of his first career top-10 finish.  Range fired a career-best two-over 74 Wednesday to tie for 11th overall at 229.  Sophomore Michael Mounce (El Paso, Ill./El Paso-Gridley/Illinois State) tied for 18th at 233, finishing out his first tournament as a Brave with a 79, while junior Matthew Specht (Munster, Ind./Munster) had his best round of the tournament with a 77 to tie for 22nd overall at 238.

Bradley returns to the course Sept. 19 & 20 at the John Dallio Memorial in Lemont, Ill.
