PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward Donte Thomas (Calumet City, Ill./Thornwood) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after averaging 6.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of games last week.

Thomas anchored a strong defensive performance in a 74-63 road victory over Evansville last Wednesday with eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks as the Braves held Evansville to just 23.5 percent shooting -- the ninth-lowest mark by a BU opponent in school history. He then followed with five points and six rebounds against Loyola Saturday.  A social work major, Thomas owns a 3.21 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Thomas and the Bradley men's basketball team return to action Wednesday night, hosting Northern Iowa in an 8 p.m. game at Carver Arena.
