PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior runner Sara Piller (Normal, Ill./Normal West) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after leading the Bradley women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Sam Bell Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., Saturday.

Piller placed 22nd at the meet as her time of 21:36.87 on the 6K course not only shaved more than 50 seconds off her previous career best, but also represented the fastest time in the MVC this season.  She helped the Braves to a fourth-place team finish behind #4 Michigan, #14 Indiana and Columbia, which was receiving votes in the latest national polls.  A nursing major, Piller owns a 3.80 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

The Bradley women's cross country team hosts the Bradley Invitational Friday at 3 p.m. at Donovan Park, before playing host to the Bradley Pink Classic Friday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. at Newman Golf Course.
