PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward Luuk van Bree (Helmond, Netherlands/Canarias Academy ) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Men's Basketball to a pair of victories last week.
Bradley posted its largest margin of victory in back-to-back games in 37 years, with van Bree averaging 13.0 points per game on 10-for-14 shooting (71.4 percent), including 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) from three-point range. In Saturday's win at Chicago State, he led the Braves with 15 points, making all six of his field goals and all three shots from 3-point range. He also had two rebounds, one assist and a steal in the win against the Cougars. In a 40-point home win over Little Rock, van Bree had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and block in 16 minutes. An international studies major, van Bree owns a 3.65 cumulative grade point average.Â
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
The Bradley men's basketball team is back in action this afternoon, taking on Southeast Missouri State in a 1 p.m. game in Cape Girardeau, Mo.Â
