PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore forward Chelsea Brackmann (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Women's Basketball split a pair of games last week.
Brackmann averaged 8.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game as she helped Bradley split a pair of games against in-state opponents. She opened the week with her first double-double of the year, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and two steals to lead the Braves at Northern Illinois Wednesday. Brackmann followed it up with seven points, two blocks, two steals and a season-high 15 rebounds as she helped Bradley post a 58-48 victory over visiting Illinois-Chicago. A health science major, Brackmann owns a 3.68 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Brackmann and the Bradley women's basketball team are back in action tonight, taking on Eastern Illinois in a 6 p.m. contest in Charleston, Ill.
