KANSAS CITY, MO - Senior defender Clark Emerson (Grand Prairie, TX/Mansfield Lake Ridge H.S.) has joined a seclect group of company in Bradley Soccer history, becoming the third player in program history to be selected as a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, according to the release of the 2017 Academic All-America® Men's Soccer Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A business major specializing in finance, Emerson completed his Bradley career in November after playing 63 games, including 45 as a starter, for the Braves.  During his senior season this year, he helped Bradley (11-7-3) to the most-improved record in the nation and 10 shutouts from his defensive position.  He also contributed five points offensively on a goal and three assists.  He finished with 10 career points on three goals and four assists.

Sporting a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average through his first six college semesters, Emerson is one of 11 players on the Academic All-America® First Team, joining Dan Thorstenson (2000), Todd Reedy (2007) and Bobby Smith (2011) as the program's only first-team honorees.  A third-team selection in 2016, Emerson joins Thorstenson and Reedy as the program's third, two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.  He is a three-time Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete first-team selection and he has qualified for the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of his first six semester, as well as the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in each of his first three years.

The recognition for Emerson marks the 32nd CoSIDA Academic All-America award earned by a Bradley University student-athlete, the 29th since 1995.  At least one Bradley student-athlete now has earned Academic All-America honors in four consecutive school years, as well as in seven of the last eight school years.
