CARBONDALE, IL – A pair of runs to start each half lifted Southern Illinois past the Bradley men's basketball team on Wednesday night, 85-65. The Braves are now 8-16 and 3-8 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Salukis improve to 13-11 and 6-5 against league foes.

Junior JoJo McGlaston and freshman Darrell Brown led BU with 14 points each, while freshman Jayden Hodgson also chipped in 11 points. Junior Donte Thomas led the Braves with seven rebounds.

Southern Illinois wasted no time in grabbing the early advantage, racing out to a 17-2 advantage less than six minutes into the contest. Seven of the Salukis' first nine points were second-chance points as SIU used the glass to gain the early lead.

Bradley, however, slowly fought back the remainder of the half and a 7-0 run to close the stanza cut the one-time 15-point lead down to six, 36-30.

The Braves would not carry their momentum into the second half though. Southern Illinois used a 22-6 run to start the period to grab a commanding 58-36 advantage. The Salukis made 9-of-14 shots during the stretch, while holding the Braves to 2-of-5 shooting. Bradley would get as close as 12 points with more than eight minutes remaining after a 12-3 run but Salukis would not allow BU to get any closer before earning the 85-65 victory.

Southern Illinois made 50.9 percent of its shots in the winning effort with an 8-of-16 mark from 3-point range. Bradley connected on 47.8 percent of its attempts and 6-of-17 3-point tries.

Five players scored in double figures for the Salukis with Mike Rodriguez tallying a team-best 15.

Bradley is back in action on Saturday with a home contest against Drake on Saturday. Tipoff at Carver Arena is scheduled for 1 p.m. and BU will recognize the latest inductees into the Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame, including the 1995-96 men's basketball team.

Game Notes: Hodgson has scored 47 points in his last five games (9.4 per game) after totaling 63 in his first 19 career contests (3.3 per game) … In its last three games, the Braves are being outscored by five points in the first half (90-85) but 50 points in the second half (129-79) … Southern Illinois outrebounded the Braves, 41-25, and held the advantage in second-chance points (22-13) and fast-break points (14-2).
