FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- Freshman
Taylor Ledwein (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) led the Bradley women's golf team for the fourth time in five outings, tying for 21st to help the Braves to a 15th-place team finish in the 18-team field at the Amelia Island Collegiate.
Ledwein extended her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 15, with a two-over 74 in Tuesday's final round at the par 72 Amelia National Golf Club. She tied for 21st at 224 as she missed posting her fifth top-20 finish of the season by one stroke.
Bradley improved its score each round in its first outing of the 2017 Spring schedule and capped the event with a 302 to climb into 15th in the final team standings at 922. The Braves were seven shots back of 14th-place Jacksonville St. and 13 out of the top 10 in the field, which included a pair of teams ranked in Golfweek.com's top 100 along with three teams from the state of Florida and five other squads from the states of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Sophomore
Frankie Saban (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) matched a career-best one-over 73 and had the low round of the day for the Braves Tuesday after firing a pair of 77's Monday. She was three shots behind Ledwein in a tie for 35th overall (227).
Fellow sophomore
Chloe Horton (Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) tied for 64th at 235, finishing out the tournament with an 80, while junior
Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) saved her best round of the tournament for last with a three-over 75. Scaccia tied for 66th at 236, one back of Horton, and moved into a tie with Rikki Sobel for seventh in school history with her 56th career sub-80 round.
Sophomore
Brooke Thompson (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) rounded out the team scoring for Bradley with a final round 81 and tied for 95th (251). Junior
Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) was in the field as an individual and carded her lowest round in almost a year with a three-over 75 as she tied with Scaccia for 66th at 236.
The Braves are back in action again later this week, taking part in the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz., Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
