PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley women's golf team ran away with the team by an impressive 26 strokes and junior
Ally Scaccia claimed medalist honors by two shots to highlight a record-setting performance for the Braves at the Bradley Spring Invitational.
A day removed from shooting the lowest round in program history (288), Bradley finished off a dominating performance Sunday to win its second consecutive Bradley Spring Invitational title. The Braves ended up with a second round 303 in the resumption of Saturday's suspended round only to fire a 292 in Sunday's third round.
The final round 292 ranks as the third lowest round in school history as Bradley posted the lowest 54-hole score (883) in program history in the 26-stroke victory. The previous low score for a 54-hole tournament was 896 at the Amelia Island Intercollegiate during the 2015-16 season.
Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake was a distant second in the 11-team field at 909, followed by Missouri-St. Louis (911) and South Dakota (914) to round out the top four squads.
Scaccia claimed medalist honors for the first time in her career, finishing at two-under 214 to win top individual honors by two strokes. She finished off a second-round 75 and followed it up with a career-best three-under 69. The final-round 69 tied for the fourth lowest round in school history and Scaccia posted the fourth-best 54-hole score (214) in Bradley history.
Sophomore
Frankie Saban also had a strong final day to earn her third top-10 finish of the year. Saban ended up carding a 77 in the second round and closed the tournament with a one-under 71 to place fourth in the field at five-over 221.
Freshman
Taylor Ledwein was one shot behind Saban in fifth at 222 after firing matching 77's in the last two rounds. Ledwein earned her team-best fifth top-10 finish of the year and is now one of just three freshmen in program history to fire 26 sub-80 rounds.
Sophomore
Chloe Horton finished two shots out of the top 20 in a tie for 24
th at 233. She matched her lowest round of the spring with a second round 74 and finished out the tournament with a third-round 82.
Junior
Grace Henderson completed the team scoring for Bradley with rounds of 77 and 75 as she tied for 33
rd at 236.
Junior
Lexi Hammerton helped highlight Sunday's action for the Bradley White team with a season-best 76 in the second round. Hammerton also had a 79 in the third round to tie Henderson for 33
rd (236).
The Bradley women's golf team will have two weeks off before heading to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship April 16-18.
