PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore outfielder
Jean-Francois Garon (Terrebonne, Quebec/College Laval) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Baseball to a 3-1 record last week.
Garon had hits in all four games, going 6-for-11 (.545) with two doubles, one home runs, six runs and four RBI to go with a team-best .643 on base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. He was 1-for-2 with a double, run and RBI in a midweek victory over Iowa. In the weekend series against I-74 rival Illinois State, Garon was 5-for-9 (.556) as he helped the Braves take two of three from the Redbirds. In the series opener, he was 3-for-3 with a double, homer, three runs and three RBI. Garon was 1-for-3 with a run in each of the final two games of the series. An accounting major, Garon owns a 3.13 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Garon and the Bradley Baseball team close out a 10-game home stand Wednesday night with a 6 p.m. contest against SIU Edwardsville at Dozer Park in the final non-conference game of the season.
