Braves Open Competition at Drake Relays

The Bradley track and field teams began their final week of the regular season on Thursday by competing at the Drake Relays.

In the men's 5,000m run, the Braves posted three of the four fastest career-best times at Drake. Junior Michael Ward finished seventh in the field with a time of 14:04.35 – second only to his school-record mark of 13:54.49 set last season. Additionally, senior Patrick Campbell posted the second-fastest career-best time in program history with a run of 14:05.62, while freshman Jake Hoffert now ranks third with a time of 14:08.54. Junior Daniel Gagne rounded out the strong performance for BU and is now fourth in Bradley history with a time of 14:10.19.

In the women's 5,000m run, junior Hannah Witczak just missed her personal record by less than five seconds, completing the trek in a time of 16:54.72.

Also in action on Thursday, the Bradley women competed in the 4x1600m relay and posted the second-fastest time in school history. The team of freshman Kirstin Oakley, sophomore Brooke Nusser, freshman Gabby Juarez and freshman Abby Jockisch crossed the finish line in 19:53.62 to place eighth overall and less than eight seconds off the program record.

The Braves wrap up the final week of regular-season action on Saturday, completing competition at the Drake Relays, while also running at the Crusader Open at Valparaiso.
