Always A Brave earns No. 3 seed and could face No. 11 seed Peoria All-Stars in the second round

PEORIA, IL - The two hometown teams in the 2017 The Basketball Tournament Midwest Regional - Always A Brave and Peoria All-Stars - could face one another in the second round of the event next month at Renaissance Coliseum.

TBT organizers revealed the 16-team bracket and schedule of games for the Midwest Regoinal, which will be played July 15-16 in Bradley University's on-campus arena. The defending Midwest Region champion, Bradley's alumni team Always A Brave drew the No. 3 seed and will face No. 14 seed Mid American Unity in the fifth game of the first round, a 4 p.m tip Saturday, July 15. As the region's No. 11 seed, the Peoria All-Stars will immediately follow at 5:45 against No. 6 seed Fort Wayne Champs. The winners of those two games will meet in the 2:30 p.m. second-round game Sunday, July 16.

Now in its fourth year, The Basketball Tournament is an open-application, 5-on-5 summer basketball tournament that will award a $2 million, winner-take-all prize to its champion, who will be crowned Aug. 3 in Baltimore. Modeled after the NCAA Tournament bracket, the 64-team field will begin single-elimination play when the South (Charlotte) and Northeast (Philadelphia) Regions tip off Saturday, July 8. The Midwest Region will be played July 15-16 at Bradley University's Renaissance Coliseum, while the West Region games will be played the same dates in Las Vegas.
