ST. LOUIS - After posting back-to-back shutouts versus Loyola Chicago and Fort Wayne, Bradley senior goalkeeper Brandon Barnes (Cary, IL/Prairie Ridge H.S.) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office Tuesday.

A graduate transfer from Seton Hall, Barnes posted his third shutout of the season Wednesday by recording two saves in Bradley's 1-0 win against defending Valley champion and preseason league favorite Loyola Chicago.  He came back with seven more saves Saturday, helping the Braves (5-3-0) to a 3-0 Homecoming victory versus Fort Wayne and the team to its fourth consecutive home shutout.

Barnes has played all 737 minutes in Bradley's first eight games in 2017, surpassing his total career minutes played in his four years at Seton Hall (672).  So far this year, he sports a 0.86 goals against average and .841 saves percentage.  His Bradley goals against average currently ranks fourth on the program's single-season best list and his 4.0 shutouts already rank 10th on Bradley's career list.

Barnes and the Braves travel to DePaul (3-3-1) Wednesday for a 3 p.m. kickoff in Chicago.  Bradley will then have the weekend off before resuming conference play with a Sept. 27 visit to Evansville.
