MADISON, Ill. -- Senior Ethan Brue claimed medalist honors for the second time in as many tournaments in 2017-18, winning top honors by two strokes at the Derek Dolenc Invitational and helping the Bradley men's golf team to a third-place finish in the 17-team field.

Brue now owns a school record five career individual medalist titles during his brief time on The Hilltop after firing an eight-under 205 to finish atop the individual leaderboard at the Derek Dolenc Invitational, which wrapped up play at the par-71 Gateway National Golf Links Tuesday afternoon.

The first player in school history to card all three rounds of a tournament in the 60's, Brue's 205 was two shots better than second-place finisher Joel Durnford (207) of Iowa Western and matched the lowest 54-hole score in school history originally set by Lyle Burns at the Austin Peay Invitational during the fall of the 2015-16 season.  The medalist honors was the second of the 2017-18 season for Brue, who earned his fifth career individual crown to break the school mark of four previously held by Burns (2014-16).

A final round two-under 69 for Brue helped him finish at eight-under for the tournament and was his school record 10th career sub-70 round.  Brue has won four of his five medalist honors as a Brave in the month of September and owns a 71.40 career stroke average in the opening month of the season during his time at Bradley.

As a team, Bradley entered the day in second, but slipped to third in the final team standings with a final score of nine-over 861.  The Braves carded a 295 during Tuesday's final round with the 861 tying for the third lowest 54-hole team score in program history.  Tournament-host SIU Edwardsville won the team title at 11-under par 841 and UT-Martin edged out Bradley for second by one stroke at eight-over par 860.  The Braves were third in the field at 861, seven shots better than Missouri Valley Conference rival Missouri State which was fourth at 868.

Sophomore Charles Jahn finished off a strong showing with a one-over 72 Tuesday to finish alone in 16th in the field at four-over 217 for the best 54-hole score of his Bradley career.

Junior Daniel Lensing and senior Zach Jewell both fired final round 77's on the last day.  In his season debut, Lensing turned in his lowest 54-hole score since his Bradley debut to open the 2014-15 season with an eight-over par 221.  Jewell's final round 77 helped him finish one shot behind Lensing in a tie for 28th at 222.

Junior Drake Bushong became the 13th player in program history with 70 career sub-80 rounds.  Bushong, who tied for 65th overall at 232 to round out the team scoring for the Braves, shot a final round 78 Tuesday.

Freshman Miguel Montelongo was in the field as an individual and wrapped up play with a third-round 80 as he tied for 39th overall (225).

The Bradley men's golf team returns to action next week, playing in the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio, next Monday and Tuesday.
