CHESTERTON, Ind. – Defending tournament-medalist Ethan Brue is in the lead after one day of play at the season-opening Crusader Collegiate and the Bradley men's golf team is tied with tournament-host Valparaiso for second in the team standings heading into Wednesday's final round.

Bradley has three of the top four individuals in the field, with Brue pacing the group at one-over 145 following Tuesday's action at the par-72 Sand Creek Country Club.  Junior Michael Mounce and senior Matthew Specht finished the day in a three-way tie for second at eight-over 152, but both are not part of the Braves lineup and are in the field as individuals.

Wright State held a nine-shot edge on the field after an opening round 303 with Bradley and Valparaiso tied for second in the team standings at 312.  Both the Braves and Crusaders cut into the Wright State in the second round with the pair both firing second round 309's to finish the day tied at 621.  Wright State carded a second-round 314 and heads into the final round with a four-shot lead on the field at 617.  Missouri Valley Conference rival Loyola is fourth in the team standings at 623.

Brue has shot 75 or better in all five career rounds at the Crusader Collegiate, following up a two-over 74 in the opening round with a one-under 71 in the second round.  His second-round 71 was one of just two sub-par rounds on the day and gave him a seven-shot lead on the field at one-over 145.

Sophomore Charles Jahn is making his first appearance in Bradley's team lineup and is tied for eighth at 155, 10 shots off the lead.  Jahn was one of three Braves to shoot both rounds in the 70's Tuesday with scores of 78 and 77.  Junior Drake Bushong is five shots behind Jahn in 17th at 160, carding rounds of 79 and 80 on the opening day.

Senior Zach Jewell rounded out the top 20 of the individual standings at 162 (20th) as he carded rounds of 82 and 80, while freshman Miguel Montelongo made his Bradley debut and wrapped up the team scoring for the Braves in 24th at 167 (81-86).

One of three Bradley individuals in the field, Mounce had a big second round as he rebounded from an opening round 80 to card a second round 72.  Mounce is tied with Specht and Loyola's Orion Yamat for second on the leaderboard at 152.  Specht matched Brue's opening round 74 and returned in the afternoon to shoot a 78.  Junior Sam Range is also in the field as an individual and is tied for 25th overall at 168 (82-86) after the opening two rounds.

Wednesday's final round is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m.
