Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Normal, Ill. – The Bradley basketball team dropped a 70-57 decision at Illinois State on Wednesday night. The Braves are now 13-7 on the year and 3-4 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Redbirds improve to 10-9 and 4-3 in league play.

Senior Donte Thomas led BU with his second double-double of the season, scoring 13 points to go with a season-best 13 rebounds. Junior Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye also added 13 points to go with six boards and four assists. Sophomore Darrell Brown registered a game-high six assists with freshman Elijah Childs posting a career-best four blocks.

In a tight first half, it was a late run that gave Illinois State the momentum heading into the locker room. After neither team led by more than a single possession in the first 18 minutes – with seven lead changes and four ties – the Redbirds scored the final six points of the stanza, punctuated by a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, for a 29-22 halftime lead.

The ISU advantage reached as many as 10 points early in the second stanza but the Braves cut their deficit down to five midway through the period. However, a 10-2 run pushed the lead up to 13 and BU could only pull within eight after that as Illinois State pulled out the 70-57 victory.

Bradley shot 32.8 percent with a 44-43 edge in rebounds thanks to 18 offensive boards. Illinois State made 40.7 percent of its shots with a 6-of-21 day from 3-point range.

The Braves return to Carver Arena, where they have won their last 11 contests, for its next two games, hosting Evansville on Saturday at 7 p.m.
