Darrell Brown Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore guard Darrell Brown (Memphis, Tenn./Germantown) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Men's Basketball split a pair of games to open Missouri Valley Conference play.

Brown averaged 21.5 points and 3.5 assists in the first two conference games, while shooting 48.1 percent overall and 61.5 percent from 3-point range. After scoring 18 points at Drake, he tallied a season-best 24 points in a 19-point win against Northern Iowa, scoring 11 points during a key 22-3 second-half run. He also added five assists versus the Panthers, while shooting 8-of-15 and 5-of-8 from 3-point range. A public relations major, Brown owns a 3.06 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Brown and the Bradley men's basketball team return to action tonight, hosting MVC newcomer Valparaiso in a 7 p.m. contest at Carver Arena.
