PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior runner Gabby Juarez (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after pacing the Bradley Women's Cross Country team at last week's Ideal Rentals Bradley Pink Classic.

Juarez was Bradley's top finisher, posting a career-best 6K time of 21:25.0 to top her previous career-best effort by more than 10 seconds.  Her time was the fourth-best by a Brave in Classic history as she helped the Braves to the top team finish (8th of 39 teams) among eight Missouri Valley Conference teams competing at the meet with her 26th-place individual showing.  A dietetics major, Juarez owns a 3.73 cumulative grade point average. 

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

The Bradley women's cross country team will have individuals competing at Friday's Illini Open in Champaign, Ill., before hosting the 2018 MVC Championship Saturday, Oct. 27 at Newman Golf Course.
