Junior guard Darrell Brown highlighted the Valley preseason poll and honorees for the Bradley men's basketball team, collecting second-team Preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference honors, announced by the conference on Thursday.

As a team, Bradley was selected to finish fourth in the annual preseason poll, as selected by the conference's head coaches, SIDs and media members. It marks the Braves' highest placement in the preseason rankings in 11 years since BU was slated to finish second in 2007-08.

Earning the preseason accolade for the second-straight season, Brown was also featured on the 2018 All-Missouri Valley Conference Third Team and the 2017 MVC All-Freshman Team. The first underclassmen to earn all-conference honors since 2006, Brown has led Bradley in scoring in each of his two years on The Hilltop, becoming just the fourth Brave in school history and first since 1994 to do so as a freshman and sophomore.

Brown finished the 2017-18 campaign ranked 11th in the Valley in scoring with 13.5 points per game and second with 4.3 assists per game. The Memphis, native led the Braves in points on 13 occasions as a sophomore, while recording a team-best in assists in 24 contests.

Of the 10 players selected to the two preseason All-Valley teams, Brown was one of just three non-seniors to earn the distinction.

Loyola is slated to finish first in the preseason poll, receiving 29-of-43 first-place votes and 410 total points, while the Ramblers' Clayton Custer was also named the Preseason Player of the Year. Illinois State (374) and Southern Illinois (362) were selected second and third, respectively, ahead of Bradley with 305 points. Northern Iowa (248), Indiana State (210), Valparaiso (173), Missouri State (125), Drake (92) and Evansville (66) followed the Braves in fifth through 10th.

The Braves finished the 2017-18 season with a 20-13 record. One of just four schools in the country to improve by at least five wins in each of the last two years, Bradley earned a top-five seed for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and advanced to the league semifinals for the first time since 2010.
