ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Freshman outside hitter Hannah Thompson (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the third consecutive week and fifth time this fall according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

Thompson has earned the Valley Freshman of the Week award four of the last six weeks since the start of the conference schedule and is just the fifth five-time MVC Freshman of the Week in league history.  Joining Thompson as five-time MVC Freshman of the Week honorees are Illinois State's Stef Jankiewicz (2017), Daniele Messa (2016) & Shanda Harper (2006) of Missouri State along with Wichita State's Mary Elizabeth Hooper (2008).

The only freshman in the country with 290 kills, 380 digs and 30 or more blocks, Thompson added two more double-doubles to her season total last week, averaging 3.11 kills, 4.11 digs, 0.22 assists, 0.22 aces and 0.33 digs per set in a pair of road matches as she helped Bradley hold on to third in the Valley standings.

She had 10 kills, 19 digs, one assist and two blocks in a five-set victory at Evansville Friday to help the Braves earn their 19th win & ninth league victory of the year.  The 19 wins matched the team's highest win total since a 24-8 season in 2001 and BU has nine league wins for the first time since 2005 (9-9).

Thompson had 18 kills, 18 digs, one assist, two aces and one block Saturday against Indiana State for her 15th double-double of the year.  The 15 double-doubles broke the Bradley freshman record of 14 previously held by Marika Giguere (2000) and Thompson now owns only the sixth season in Bradley Volleyball history of 290 kills and 380 or more digs.

Currently on pace to break the Bradley freshman record for kills and digs in a season, Thompson has 293 kills to rank fifth among BU freshman marks and her 381 digs are third among Bradley freshman totals.  She is on pace for just the second season in program history of 350 kills and 450 or more digs.

Thompson and the Braves are back in action Friday, opening a two-match home stand with a 7 p.m. contest against league-leading and 25th-ranked Northern Iowa at Renaissance Coliseum.
