PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior runner Michael Ward (Cardiff, South Wales/Llanishen) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Men's Cross Country to its fourth consecutive Missouri Valley Conference championship.

Ward placed second individually at the Valley Championship, which Bradley hosted at Newman Golf Course Saturday, posting an 8K time of 24:04.7.  He is now one of four three-time All-MVC cross country runners in school history, joining teammate Jake Hoffert along with Rod Collins (1964-66) and Eric Huey (1980, 82-83).  A biochemistry major, Ward owns a 3.82 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Ward and the Bradley men's cross country team return to action Friday, Nov. 9 when the Braves host the NCAA Midwest Regional at Newman Golf Course.
