Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley basketball team opened its exhibition game with a 21-2 run and never looked back en route to an 81-31 victory against Carroll University on Thursday night at Carver Arena. The 50-point margin of victory is the largest for the Braves in any exhibition game against a college team in school history.

Freshman Ja'Shon Henry led the Braves with 15 points and nine rebounds in the convincing victory. Juniors Koch Bar and Nate Kennell both added 14 points, while sophomore Elijah Childs also reached double figures to go with seven boards and three blocks.

Junior Jayden Hodgson paced the Bradley attack with five assists (to zero turnovers).

Bradley used a strong defensive effort to never let the Pioneers into the game. The Braves forced Carroll without a point for the first five-plus minutes and with just over 11 minutes remaining in the opening half, held a 21-2 advantage. The Pioneers made just one of their first 12 shots, while also being forced into four turnovers, as Bradley cruised to a 41-20 halftime advantage.

The second half saw much of the same story. Bradley used a 30-3 stretch to fully take control of the game, which included a span of seven minutes without a Carroll point as the team earned a 50-point win in its exhibition game. The team's previous high victory in preseason action was a 42-point win against Western Ontario in 1958.

Overall, the Braves shot 52.7 percent, while holding the Pioneers to 19.6 percent in 40 minutes of action. Bradley also dominated the paint (34-6) and points off turnovers (35-5).

Bradley officially opens the 2018-19 campaign next Wednesday with a home game against UW-Parkside. Tipoff at Carver Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
