PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley Volleyball senior Erica Haslag (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias Catholic) earned First-Team Google Cloud Academic All-District V honors according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.

One of four Academic All-District honorees from the Missouri Valley Conference and one of three first-team selections in the league, Haslag is the first Bradley Volleyball player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition since Jenna Harrison was a second-team pick in 2007.  The last first-team academic all-district winner for the Braves was Gillian Falknor in 2005 and Haslag joins Falknor, Sam Hardwick (2001) and two-time winner Laura Benzing (2000 & 2001) as the only first-team academic all-district winners in program history.

Haslag, who will now appear on the ballot for Google Cloud Academic All-America consideration, was one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award this season.  She was a First-Team All-MVC performer last year in addition to garnering First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete honors in 2017.

An actuarial science major with a 3.91 cumulative grade point average, Haslag has been named MVC Player of the Week twice this season and joins Lindsay Stalzer as the only three-time Valley Player of the Week honorees in program history.  She was named MVP of the CEFCU Classic earlier this fall and also earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the Eagle Challenge this season.

Haslag is third in the MVC in both kills per set (4.15) and points per set (4.37) in 2018.  The MVC active career leader in kills with 1,606, Haslag ranks 17th in league history.  She has averaged 4.41 kills and 4.59 points per set in Valley play helping Bradley to its first 22-win season in nearly two decades and best conference finish (3rd) since 2001.  Haslag is sixth in the nation in career kills among active players.  Her 461 kills this season rank as the eighth-best season total in Bradley history and were ninth in the country through matches of Nov. 11.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his institution and be nominated by his sports information director.

Haslag and the Braves close out the 2018 regular-season schedule at home, hosting league-leading & I-74 rival Illinois State in a 7 p.m. match Friday at Renaissance Coliseum.
