Braves Drop Road Game at IUPUI

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Bradley men's basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped with a road defeat at IUPUI, 85-73. The Braves are now 6-2 through eight games, while the Jaguars improve to 5-2.
 
Senior Luuk van Bree led the Braves with a season-best 18 points, while juniors Darrell Brown and Nate Kennell chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.
 
Kennell also registered a team-best four assists, while redshirt junior Antoine Pittman added a BU-leading six boards.
 
The Jaguars started the game strong and raced to a 12-2 lead. The early edge reached 24-10 only for Bradley to respond with a 15-0 run to take its first lead of the game. Bradley made 4-of-5 3-pointers during the 3:17 stretch, while forcing the Jaguars into missing three field goals and three turnovers.
 
IUPUI, however, added a 15-4 run to pull in front by double-digits before Bradley scored five points in the final 13 seconds of the first half for the 44-38 score at the intermission.
 
In the second stanza, the Jaguars scored the first seven points of the period to pull back in front by 13, 51-38. The lead reached as many as 15 before Bradley fought back to make it a four-point contest, 59-55, thanks to a 12-2 run of its own. The Jaguars, however, would not let BU any closer as IUPUI held on for the home victory, 85-73.
 
Bradley shot 44.8 percent with an 8-of-23 mark from beyond the arc. IUPUI, meanwhile, made 51.0 percent of its field goals and was 29-of-39 from the free-throw line.
 
The Braves return home and face New Mexico in its Missouri Valley-Mountain West Challenge contest. Game time on Saturday is set for 7 p.m. at Carver Arena.
 
Game Notes: The Bradley bench has combined for 64 points in the last two games after totaling 28 on Wednesday. BU scored 59 bench points in its first six games combined … Brown extended his streak of double-digit scoring games to start the season to eight, the longest since Daniel Ruffin went nine-straight to start the 2007-08 season … van Bree has scored 32 points in the last two games after recording 11 in his first five games of the season.
