Game Recap: Soccer |
PEORIA, IL – The Bradley soccer team dropped its season finale to Evansville on Saturday night, falling in a back-and-forth affair, 4-3. The Braves end the season with an 8-5-4 overall record, while the Purple Aces improve 4-7-7 in 2018.

Evansville grabbed the early lead in the game when Logan Much finished a cross for the 1-0 advantage in the 29th minute, setting up a wild second half that featured six goals.

Bradley wasted no time in knotting the game in the second stanza when Jha'Lon Johnson scored just 52 seconds into the frame. After a corner kick popped out, senior Frank Bak sent the ball back into the box and Johnson finished for his first of the year for the 1-1 game.

The Braves then took the lead in the 64th minute when sophomore Gerit Wintermeyer drew a foul in the corner of the box and then finished from the spot for the 2-1 advantage.

Evansville fought back and scored two goals in less than three minutes to reclaim its advantage. Trevor Baum squared the game at two in the 75th minute when he knocked in a loose ball from a corner kick. Filip Johansson then put the visitors in front, 3-2, when he finished off a rebound in the 78th minute.

With their season on the line, the Braves once again answered and Wintermeyer pulled BU even in the 83rd minute. Bak sent a long throw in into the box and Wintermeyer's header went over the goalie and into the net for the 3-3 game.

Evansville, however, secured the victory when awarded a spot kick with 32.3 seconds remaining in regulation. Jesse Stafford-Lacey finished it off for the 4-3 Purple Aces win.

The Purple Aces held an 18-14 advantage in shots on the night with a 9-7 edge in corner kicks.

Albert Reinwart recorded six saves for the Braves between the posts, while Evansville counterpart Greg Niven made one save.
