Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Peoria, Ill. – Eastern Illinois made 13 3-pointers on Saturday night to post a 73-66 road victory against the Bradley men's basketball team. The Braves drop to 7-4 with the loss, while the Panthers improve to 6-5.

Juniors Koch Bar and Darrell Brown led the Braves in scoring, registering 13 and 12 points, respectively. Brown also recorded a game-high four assists, while sophomore Elijah Childs collected 11 rebounds to go with eight points.

Both teams started strong on the offensive end with Eastern Illinois grabbing a four-point lead, 22-18, less than nine minutes into the game. The Braves then used a quick 6-0 spurt to take a 24-22 advantage before following up minutes later with a 12-0 run for its largest lead of the game, 36-27. The Panthers, however, made a pair of triples in the final minute of the half to head into the locker room trailing by just three, 36-33.

Neither team was able to grab more than a one-possession lead during the first eight minutes of the second half as the schools played a back-and-forth game. Eastern Illinois, though, would gain some breathing room with an 11-2 stretch to turn a one-point edge, 47-46, into a double-digit advantage, 58-48.

The EIU lead would reach as many as 11, 63-52, with 6:03 remaining in the game only for Bradley to respond with a run of its own. The Braves outscored the Panthers, 10-1, over the next five minutes to pull within two, 64-62, with 63 ticks left. Eastern Illinois would make its final seven free throws of the game, though, to seal the 73-66 victory.

Eastern Illinois made 13-of-24 from beyond the arc to earn the road win, shooting 42.1 percent overall. The Braves made 43.6 percent of their baskets with a 5-of-17 mark from 3-point range.

Bradley looks to quickly regroup with a road game at Georgia Southern on Tuesday night. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.

Game Notes: Brown was honored before the game for scoring his 1,000th career point at Little Rock on Dec. 4 … Brown extended his double-digit scoring streak to 11 games to start the season – the longest run by a Brave since 2006-07 … Freshman Ari Boya made his collegiate debut after missing the first 10 games of the season with an injury, scoring six points to go with four rebounds, two blocks and one steal in nine minutes of action … Bradley outscored the Panthers, 30-14, in the paint but lost the battle beyond the arc, 39-15 … The loss ended an 11-game winning streak versus the OVC for the Braves.
