RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Bradley Women's Golf is fifth in the 17-team field after the opening round of play at the 16th annual Rio Verde Invitational, paced by sophomore Taylor Ledwein and junior Frankie Saban who both carded first-round 77's Friday.

The Braves are just five shots off the lead, closing Friday's action fifth overall at 310.  Little Rock is atop the team standings at 305, followed by Akron (306), Seton Hall (307) and Eastern Michigan (308) to round out the top four.  Bradley has a one-shot advantage on sixth-place Arkansas State (311) heading into Saturday's second round and a three-shot edge on Wichita State and Missouri State, which are tied for seventh overall at 313.

Ledwein and Saban were the low performers for Bradley Friday, with the duo both shooting 77's at the par-72 Quail Run Golf Course at the Rio Verde Country Club.  Ledwein extended her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 26, while Saban turned in her 16th sub-80 round of the season.  The duo is tied for 24th in the field, just two shots out of the top 10 and six back of individual leader Jacinta Pikunas of Akron (71).
