Senior Donte Thomas of the Bradley men's basketball team was recognized for his work off the court on Tuesday as he was honored as one of 10 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award recipients for the winter season.

The Valley recognizes 10 student-athletes three times annually, honoring the achievements of exceptional student-athletes through the Good Neighbor Award. In order to be eligible, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition.

Thomas was one of the anchors of the most successful team this decade for the BU program. A second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, the senior averaged 11.7 points and 7.2 rebounds in his final campaign on campus. In conference games only, Thomas ranked 11th with 13.8 points, second in boards with 8.1, fourth in field goal percentage at 55.6, seventh in free throw percentage at 76.4 and seventh with 1.1 blocks.

Thomas also ranks finished his career ranked ninth in school history with 718 rebounds to go with 990 points in his four years on campus.

Off the court, Thomas twice earned second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete honors, posting a 3.22 grade point average as a social work major. He has also volunteered throughout the Peoria community, highlighted by working with Quest Chart Academy, Boys & Girls Club Summer Camp, OSF Children's Hospital, United Way Mad Dash and Whitney's Walk.

Thomas and the Braves finished the season with a 20-13 record. One of just four schools in the country to improve by at least five wins in each of the last two years, the Braves' 20 victories are two more than the last two seasons combined. Bradley also earned a top-five seed for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and advanced to the league semifinals for the first time since 2010.
