Peoria, IL — Bradley Tennis will get back on the road this weekend when the team heads north to visit Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
The Braves, coming off their first home match in over a month, are seeing a mid-season struggle amid injury and illness throughout the team. With seniors
Alejandra de Lasa appearing in limited matches and
Aimee Manfredo out for the season, both due to injury, Bradley has dealt with a shorthanded lineup several times this season. The Braves will be shorthanded again on Saturday, as freshman
Sandra Maletin and sophomore
Natalia Barbery are both being pulled for injury.
Senior
Alexa Brandt continues to show up, grabbing Bradley's only point versus Murray State and earning her 57th career singles win and 113th career combined win. Brandt is 6-4 in singles play in the last 10 matches, making her the only Brave to hold a winning record in that span.
Bradley catches the Broncos in the middle of their five-match home stand that has seen both a 4-3 loss to Illinois-Chicago last week and a 7-0 sweep of Wayne State on Wednesday. Western Michigan holds an undefeated record against the Braves, giving up just two points to Bradley in the last 10 years.
Following its trip to Michigan, Bradley will begin conference play next week, opening in Normal, IL, at Illinois State on March 31.
