INDIANAPOLIS, IN – While leading a resurgent Bradley University Athletics program, third-year Braves Director of Athletics Dr. Chris Reynolds is making a splash on the national scene.  Reynolds has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee, according to an announcement by the NCAA Friday.

"It is a tremendous honor to be appointed to serve on the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee," said Reynolds.  "The excitement of the tournament makes it one of the most anticipated sporting events each year.  I look forward to working alongside this committed and talented group and embrace the expectations that come with serving in this role."

Reynolds, who played in four NCAA Men's Basketball Championships, including the 1992 Final Four, as the starting point guard at Indiana University, will become just the second individual associated with the Missouri Valley Conference to serve on the prestigious NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee.  Longtime MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin was a Committee member from 1998-2002.

"Chris Reynolds is uniquely qualified to serve on the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee," said Elgin.  "He was an elite student-athlete who participated in four NCAA Tournaments, including a Final Four, as a member of the Indiana University basketball team.  Chris also gained broad administrative experience at three Big Ten Conference institutions before assuming the role of athletics director at Bradley.  He will bring a valuable perspective to this very important NCAA committee."

Reynolds will begin his fourth year as Bradley Director of Athletics March 17, but he boasts more than 20 years of distinguished NCAA Division I athletics administration experience.  Prior to joining the Braves, Reynolds served in expanding senior administrative positions at Indiana University and Northwestern University.  His career path also began with stints at the NCAA national office, Michigan State University, Western Michigan University and University of Notre Dame.  In December 2016, he was one of 10 individuals appointed to the newly-created Division I Men's Basketball Competition Committee, which reviews and develops strategic principles in the areas of student-athlete health and safety, sportsmanship and integrity, game operations and presentation, technology and statistical trends.

Since his arrival on The Hilltop in 2015, Reynolds has overseen significant progress in multiple areas within the Department of Athletics, building positive momentum that has resulted in significant competitive achievements, record-breaking academic performance, development of comprehensive student-athlete welfare and service programs and the growth of revenue streams to the Department.

Specifically related to men's basketball, Reynolds hired head coach Brian Wardle in 2015 and has overseen a rapid revitalization of the school's signature Athletics program.  The Braves have dramatically increased their single-season wins total each of the last two years, producing a 20-13 record in 2017-18 for the program's first 20-win season since 2008-09, while also leading the Missouri Valley Conference in average home attendance this season.

Reynolds will begin his five-year term on the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee Sept. 1, but will shadow a current committee member during the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship, which will tip off next week.
