NORMAL, Ill. – Senior Matthew Specht fired a season-best one-under par 70 Sunday to help the Bradley Men's Golf team card a seven-over 291 in the final round of the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate as the Braves tied IPFW for sixth in the 17-team field.

Specht had the low round of the tournament for Bradley, closing out play at the par-71 Weibring Golf Club with a one-under 70 on a cold Sunday, which featured snow showers midway through the round.  Redshirt senior Zach Jewell finished three shots off the lead in a tie for seventh at seven-over par 220, turning in a three-over 74 to pace the Braves.

Bradley started the day tied for sixth and finished in that same spot, using a third-round 291 to match IPFW for sixth at 902 in the final team standings.  Duke won the team title at 871, closing the tournament 15 shots better than second-place Wisconsin (886).

Tournament-host Illinois State was third overall at 895 to edge fourth-place Oakland (896) by one stroke.  SIU Edwardsville earned a fifth-place finish at 901 with Bradley and IPFW close behind in a tie for sixth at 902.  The Braves and IPFW had a two-shot advantage on eighth-place Northern Illinois (904).

Jewell's seventh-place finish was his second consecutive top-10 finish to lead Bradley.  Junior Drake Bushong and senior Ethan Brue tied for 34th overall at 228, finishing five shots out of the top 20.  Bushong had his lowest round of the tournament with a four-over 75, while Brue improved his second round score by three strokes with a two-over 73 on the final day.

Specht's final round 70 was his lowest round since he fired a career-best 66 exactly one year to the day at last spring's Hoosier Invitational.  He finished one shot behind Bushong and Brue in a tie for 39th at 229.  Redshirt junior Daniel Lensing rounded out the team scoring for the Braves with a three-over 74.  He was four shots better than his second round score to tie for 47th at 231.

Bradley will have its final outing before the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, April 9 & 10 at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn.
