PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior outfielder Andy Shadid (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Baseball sweep a weekend road series at Evansville.

In four road games last week, Shadid hit .400 (6-for-15) with two doubles, a triple, six RBI and added three runs as he accounted for nine of the team's runs.  He drew three walks and added a sacrifice bunt in his 19 plate appearances, aiding his .500 on-base percentage.  Bradley's center fielder also was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts, made another diving catch in Friday's series opener at Evansville and recorded his third outfield assist of the season Wednesday at Saint Louis.  A finance major, Shadid owns a 3.60 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Shadid and the Bradley Baseball team host in-state foe Western Illinois Wednesday in a 6 p.m. game at Dozer Park.
