PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior women's golfer Frankie Saban (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after finishing second at the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship.

Saban posted the best finish by a Bradley Women's Golfer at the Valley Championship since 2014, taking second at the 2018 event held at the par-72 Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.  The junior helped the Braves to a fourth-place team finish with her 54-hole score of 219 four strokes back of individual medalist Rachel Johnson of Missouri State.  Saban opened the three-day tournament with a 78 and took over the individual lead after a career-best four-under 68 in the second round.  She finished out play with a 73 to close the year with a team-best 76.10 season stroke average.  A hospitality leadership major, Saban owns a 3.84 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Saban is one of three juniors on the 2017-18 roster for the Braves and is expected to be one of six returning letterwinners in 2018-19.
