Braves Open Drake Relays with Eight PRs

The Bradley track and field teams began competition at the Drake Relays on Thursday, registering eight personal-best times.

Senior Taylor Floyd Mews led the BU men on the night, clocking the top time in the Missouri Valley Conference this season in the 5,000m run. Floyd Mews ran a 14:08.92 to finish fifth of 16 runners on the night – second among collegiate runners – while recording the fourth-best time in school history. The senior shaved nearly 11 seconds off his previous PR to lead the Braves.

Bradley also placed two runners in the top five of the 800m on Thursday as Scott Seymour placed third in 1:51.22 and David Shadid was fourth in 1:51.37

The Bradley women had three student-athletes record top 10 times in school history at Drake. Junior Kathryn Adelman clocked the seventh-best time in the 800m in 2:11.97, while sophomore Emma Makowski was right behind her teammate and ranks eighth in the BU record book at 2:13.40.

Sophomore Gabby Juarez set her PR in the 5,000m run for the second-straight week. The sophomore improved her time that ranked third in the Valley and eighth in school history by crossing the finish line in 17:01.69.

Junior Brooke Nusser rounded out the strong performances for Bradley on Thursday as she set her career-best time by more than three seconds in the 1,500m, running the distance in 4:36.58.

Bradley continues action at the Drake Relays tomorrow and Saturday before also competing in the Crusader Open on Saturday.
