Game Recap: Baseball |
PEORIA, IL – The Bradley baseball team dropped its opener against Dallas Baptist, 13-2, on Friday night at Dozer Park. The Braves are now 29-13 on the year with a 10-6 record in Missouri Valley Conference play, while the Patriots improve to 33-15 and 13-3 against league foes.

The top four hitters did most of the damage for DBU, combining to hit 10-for-15 on the night with 10 runs scored and six RBI. Each of the four reached base safely in the first inning as the Patriots built an early 3-0 lead. DBU then added to the lead in the second with three more hits, including two extra-base hits, for a 6-0 advantage through two.

The Braves attempted to fight back and threatened to do so in multiple innings. After Eli Rawlinson hit his sixth home run of the season in the third inning, Bradley loaded the bases in both the fourth and fifth frames but could only muster one run with its seven baserunners as Dallas Baptist led, 7-2, through five innings.

The Patriots then took advantage of Bradley's empty chances and put the game out of reach with a six-run sixth inning for the 13-2 victory.

Cole Cook took the loss for the Braves with seven runs allowed in 4.0 innings of work, while Trevor Conn improved to 8-0 for the Patriots after allowing two runs in 4.1 innings.

Two of the Valley's top three teams in the standings are set to battle once again tomorrow afternoon. First pitch at Dozer Park is scheduled for 2 p.m.
