School-Record 15 Earn MVC Track Scholar-Athlete Honors

The Bradley track and field teams were honored for their work both on the track and in the classroom on Monday as a school-record 15 Braves were recognized on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Teams.

Seniors Taylor Floyd Mews and Daniel Gagne, juniors Will Anderson, Haran Dunderdale, David Shadid and Michael Ward and sophomores Alec Hartman, Jake Hoffert, Nick Porter and Scott Seymour all represented the Bradley men's team as honorees, while senior Hannah Witczak and juniors Kathryn Adelman, Natalie Burant, Niamh Markham and Brooke Nusser represented the Bradley women's team.

The 15 total honorees top the previous school record of 10, set during the 2015-16 campaign. Additionally, the Braves set a BU standard with 10 accolades from the men's team – topping the previous record of eight set last year – while the five women recipients are tied for second-most at Bradley.

To earn a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams, a student-athlete must place in the top eight of an individual event or the top three of a relay at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship and hold at least a cumulative 3.2 grade point average, while being a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing.

Overall, six Braves that won an individual or relay at a Missouri Valley Conference Championship this year were honored on the team (Dunderdale, Gagne, Hartman, Porter, Shadid and Ward), with another two additional all-conference performers collecting the accolade (Floyd Mews and Hoffert).

The Braves are back in action this weekend at the NCAA West Preliminary. The regional meet begins on Thursday on the campus of Sacramento State with the running of the 800m and 1,500m.
