Hartman Advances at NCAA West Preliminary

Sacramento, Calif. – Redshirt freshman Alec Hartman advanced in the 800m run at the NCAA West Preliminary on Thursday night, advancing to tomorrow's quarterfinal action.
 
The rookie finished first in his heat in the first round, crossing the finish line in 1:51.16. With the field cut in half from 48 competitors to 24, Hartman is one of just four freshmen to advance to the quarterfinals in the west region.
 
Senior Taylor Floyd Mews also wrapped up his decorated collegiate career on Thursday night, running in the NCAA Preliminary Round for the first time. The senior ran the 1,500m in 3:57.33 to place 33 of 48 runners in his regional debut.
 
The Braves wrap up their time in Sacramento on Friday night. Hartman races in the 800m quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m. CT, while Haran Dunderdale runs in the 3,000m steeplechase quarterfinals at 10:20 p.m. CT.
