Andrew Ivelia Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior infielder Andrew Ivelia (Lake Stevens, Wash./Snohomish) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping Bradley Baseball to a series win at I-74 rival Illinois State.

Ivelia hit .400 (6-for-15) in the weekend series against the Redbirds, hitting three home runs and a double in addition to driving in five runs. In Friday's 9-6 extra-inning victory, Ivelia got the scoring started with a first-inning home run and finished 2-for-6 with a walk. In Saturday's double-header opener, Ivelia collected a season-best three hits (3-5), including a double and a home run. He wrapped up the weekend with a first-inning sacrifice fly and added a two-run home run, helping the Braves clinch the series with a 9-3 win. A business management & leadership major, Ivelia owns a 3.52 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Ivelia and Bradley Baseball are scheduled to open the final home stand of the 2018 season Wednesday with a 7 p.m. non-conference game against SIU Edwardsville at Dozer Park.
