BIRMINGHAM, AL – Tuesday night's action in Minor League Baseball featured Class A and Double-A All-Star Games across the country and three Bradley alumni were involved in those games.  Not only did former Bradley pitchers Cameron Roegner (Carolina League) and Elliot Ashbeck (California League) pitch in their respective All-Star Games, but former Braves Vision student Spencer Siegel helped call the action from the Southern League All-Star Game Tuesday night at Regions Field.

Siegel graduated from Bradley in 2015 with his degree in sports communication and he is enjoying his seventh season working in Minor League Baseball.  The 2015 recipient of the athletic department's Megan C. Fong Inspiration Award in recognition of his fight against cancer while continuing to work on Bradley Athletics video productions, Siegel is in his first year as Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant for the Biloxi Shuckers, the Double-A Southern League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Siegel was part of the team of on-air talent to call the action from Tuesday's Southern League All-Star Game, presented by Wind Creek Casino & Hotel, Wetumpka, providing play-by-play coverage of the fifth and sixth innings.

While the lower level All-Star games are complete, one day remains in online fan voting for next month's Triple-A All-Star Game.  Former Braves Jason Leblebijian (International League, 3B), Rob Scahill (IL, RP) and Mike Tauchman (Pacific Coast League, OF) all appear on the ballot.  Fans may vote up to 25 times by visiting https://www.milb.com/ballot.

#ProBraves Round-Up (through games of June 20)
Elliot Ashbeck (2013-15), RHP, Lake Elsinore Storm (SD), Class A Advanced California League
In his last game before the All-Star break, Ashbeck turned in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Lancaster JetHawks and former Bradley teammate Matt Dennis.  Ashbeck was the third pitcher used by the South squad in Tuesday's California League All-Star Game, though he allowed three runs on two hits in the third inning.

Despite Tuesday's struggles, Ashbeck has been stellar throughout his fourth pro season.  Used exclusively as a reliever in his 22 appearances, Ashbeck is 2-2 with two saves and a 2.45 ERA.  He boasts 40 strikeouts in 40.1 innings, while the opposition is batting just .193 against him.

Joe Bircher (2009-12), LHP, Sioux Falls Canaries, Independent American Association
Bircher has earned the decision in all seven of his starts this season, including the loss in Wednesday' night's 6-3 setback at Wichita.  The veteran left-hander had won three of his last four decisions prior to Wednesday's start, but now is 3-4 with a 6.17 ERA to date.

Matt Dennis (2014-16), RHP, Lancaster JetHawks (COL), Class A Advanced California League
In a matchup against Ashbeck's Lake Elsinore squad in his last outing before the California League All-Star break, Dennis turned in his latest strong start, allowing just one run on six hits in his 5.2 innings to earn the victory in Lancaster's 3-1 victory.  After struggling through his first seven starts of the season, Dennis has been stellar in his last seven starts, going 2-2 with a 2.40 ERA since May 13.  In his last three starts, Dennis has allowed only two earned runs in 17.2 innings (1.02 ERA).  For the season, he is now 4-7 with a 5.04 ERA in 14 starts.

Boby Johnson (2018), RHP, Boise Hawks (COL), Class A Short Season Northwest League
A 16th-round selection by the Colorado Rockies in this month's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Johnson made his pro debut Tuesday by turning in a perfect inning of relief in Boise's 8-4 loss at Spokane.  In a game that saw the Indians score eight runs on 10 hits in their other seven half-innings, Johnson pitched a scoreless seventh inning by retiring the second, third and fourth batters in the order on two ground balls and fly out.

Jason Leblebijian (2010-12), 3B, Buffalo Bisons (TOR), Triple-A International League
At last report, Leblebijian was the leading vote getter among third baseman for next month's Triple-A All-Star Game, putting him in line to earn the starting nod at the hot corner for the International League for the second year in a row.  Though he is designated as a third baseman, Leblebijian continues to play all over the field for the Bisons, but has not allowed the constant shifting to effect his work at the plate, where he is batting .256 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI's.  Through Wednesday's action, he is tied for sixth in the International League with his 10 dingers and tied for ninth with his 35 RBI's.

Luke Mangieri (2016-18), 1B, West Virginia Black Bears (PIT), Class A Short Season NY-Penn League
A 25th-round selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates in this month's MLB First-Year Player Draft, Mangieri produced a run-scoring single in his first professional plate appearance Friday night.  He has hit safely in three of his first four games, including a 2-for-5 effort with his first career double in his most-recent game Tuesday night.  In the lone game he did not pick up a hit, Mangieri did drive in a run, giving him a RBI in three of his first four games, as well.

Max Murphy (2012-14), OF, St. Paul Saints, Independent American Association
Murphy is on a recent tear for the Saints, reaching base safely in six straight games by going 10-for-27 with a walk in the last week.  After going 3-for-6 with four RBI's and three runs scored in Monday's series opener at Lincoln, Murphy was 3-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's doubleheader nightcap against the Saltdogs.  For the season, Murphy is batting .292 in 30 games.

Cameron Roegner (2012-16), LHP, Carolina Mudcats (MIL), Class A Advanced Carolina League
Not only was Roegner selected for the Carolina League All-Star Game, but he was the starting pitcher in his home ballpark on his 25th birthday.  The exhibition appearance came just two days after his start Saturday, however, and he gave up three runs in his lone inning, though his South squad rebounded for a 7-6 win at the Mudcats' Five County Stadium.

The Carolina League leader with a 1.65 ERA in his 13 starts, Roegner turned in another sterling effort in his final outing of the season's first half Saturday, limiting Myrtle Beach to one run on four hits in his 5.0 innings.  Roegner has not allowed a run in eight of his 13 starts and no more than two runs in 11 of his 13 appearances.  For the season, he is 6-3 with a .231 opponent batting average and a 1.05 WHIP, fourth-best in the Carolina League.

Rob Scahill (2006-09), RHP, Charlotte Knights (CWS), Triple-A International League
In his 10th professional season, Scahill has made 28 appearances out of the Knights bullpen to date this season.  The right-handed reliever is 2-2 with five saves and a 4.78 ERA.  His season ERA took a hit Sunday when he allowed five runs in two-thirds of an inning at Norfolk.  In his other 27 outings, Scahill owns a 3.45 ERA.  With five strikeouts in his 2.0 innings Wednesday night, Scahill now boasts 40 K's in his 32.0 innings this season.

Mike Tauchman (2010-13), OF, Albuquerque Isotopes (COL), Triple-A Pacific Coast League
Tauchman was optioned back to Albuquerque June 12 after a week with the Rockies for his second stint in the Majors this season.  One of the top hitters in the PCL, Tauchman is batting .352 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI's in his 46 games for Albuquerque this season.  He has reached base safely in 23 of his last 34 Triple-A games, including Sunday's game when he homered and scored four runs against Nashville.  Tauchman enters Thursday's action second in the PCL with a 1.036 OPS and tied for second with his .352 batting average.
