Michael Ward Featured in Valley’s Enterprise Bank & Trust Scholar-Athlete Spotlight

Senior Michael Ward of the Bradley cross country and track teams is one of two featured athletes in the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, presented by Enterprise Bank and Trust Company.

A four-time MVC champion and a nine-time all-conference honoree, Ward has anchored the team since arriving on campus. He swept the distance events at last year's MVC Indoor Championship, while becoming the first Brave in program history to qualify for the NCAA Championship in cross country when he reached the national meet in 2016.

Away from the track and course, Ward maintained a 3.82 grade point average while earning his bachelor's degree in biochemistry and is now pursuing his master's in business administration. He has also been active in the community, assisting with the construction or a home in Clarksdale, Mississippi with Habitat for Humanity, working with a group of 8-12 year olds to help them learn about healthy living, volunteering at a free dental care clinic with Mission of Mercy and volunteering at a local Red Cross Blood Drive.

To qualify for the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
