Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Peoria, Ill. – Missouri State scored the final nine points of the game to earn a 69-64 road victory against the Bradley men's basketball team on a winter day in Peoria. The Braves are now 8-9 on the season, while the Bears improve to 8-9 as well.

Junior Darrell Brown led BU with 12 points and four assists. Overall, five different Braves scored at least eight points in a balanced attack as sophomore Elijah Childs chipped in nine and senior Luuk van Bree, junior Koch Bar and junior Jayden Hodgson all had eight.

Both teams shot the ball well in the first half as Bradley earned a 32-30 advantage at the break. The game was only more than a one-possession contest for less than two minutes during the first 20 minutes of action as Bradley headed into the locker room with the two-point edge.

The Braves made 43.5 percent of their first-half field goals – aided by a 5-of-9 mark from beyond the arc, while the Bears shot 54.2 percent from the floor.

In the second half, Bradley came out on fire and made six of their first eight shots – including a 3-of-4 mark from beyond the arc – and used a 16-4 run to open up a 46-32 advantage just over four minutes into the period.

Missouri State, however, would answer and used a 12-3 run of its own to get back into the contest and pull within five, 51-46. After exchanging a pair of baskets, Bradley would hold a lead that bounced between three and six points until the closing minutes.

The Bears cut their deficit to one, 61-60, with just over three minutes remaining but BU scored the next three points for a four-point edge, 64-60, with 1:48 left. Missouri State's second 3-pointer of the game brought the team back within a single point with 1:38 remaining before a layup with 43 ticks left gave the Bears the lead. Missouri State would then make its final four free throws to seal the 69-64 victory.

Bradley made 42.9 percent of its baskets on the night, including a season-best 52.6 percent from 3-point range (10-of-19). Missouri State, however, made 52.9 percent of its field goals for the road win.

The Braves continue play at home with a game against Drake on Wednesday night. Tip off at Carver Arena is set for 7 p.m.
