Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Springfield, Mo. – A 17-0 first-half run proved decisive on Saturday afternoon as Missouri State defeated the Bradley men's basketball team, 55-37, at JQH Arena. The Braves are now 10-11 and 2-6 in conference play, while the Bears improve to 10-11 overall and 4-4 versus Missouri Valley Conference foes.

Junior Nate Kennell led the Braves with 11 points, while junior Elijah Childs also chipped in 10 to go with a team-leading seven rebounds.

The Braves opened an 8-4 lead in the early minutes of the game but the Bears responded with the key run. Missouri State's 17-straight points gave MSU a 21-8 advantage before the teams headed into the locker room with Missouri State ahead, 28-14.

In the second stanza, Bradley would use an 8-0 run to threaten to cut into the lead but every time the Braves seemed on the verge of putting a scare into the home team, Missouri State would answer with a basket to keep their cushion at double-digits.

The Braves made 38.1 percent of their baskets, while holding the Bears to just 35.4 percent shooting. Missouri State, however, would take advantage beyond the arc, making eight triples to just two for BU.

Bradley is back in action on Wednesday, continuing their road trip with a game at Evansville. First tip is set for 6 p.m.
