Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Terre Haute, Ind. – Junior point guard Darrell Brown scored a season-best 32 points for the Bradley men's basketball team but Indiana State pulled out a 65-60 home Missouri Valley Conference win on Saturday afternoon. The Braves are now 8-7 on the year, while the Sycamores improve to 9-5.

Brown scored 25 of his 32 points in the second half, making 8-of-17 field goals and 13-of-16 free throws on the day. Junior Koch Bar collected a game-best 11 boards, while sophomore Elijah Childs led BU with four blocks.

The schools played a tight first half with neither team leading by more than five points. A late putback basket by the Sycamores tied the game at 25 at the halftime break.

Brown came out firing in the second stanza and scored four early points as BU netted the first six of the period for a 31-25 advantage. Indiana State, however, quickly responded with an 17-5 run to take a six-point lead, 42-36, with 12:30 remaining.

Bradley pulled within a single point, 47-46, with 6:51 left but the Sycamores again added some cushion thanks to a 10-2 stretch for a game-high nine-point lead, 57-48, with under two remaining.  The Braves did not quit and used a 10-3 stretch in 44 seconds to pull within two, 62-60. Brown scored eight of the team's 10 points, twice converting three-point plays in the final minute of regulation. Indiana State, however, would make three-straight free throws to seal the five-point Valley win.

Bradley made 33.3 percent of its shots in the defeat, while Indiana State made just 31.4 percent of its attempts. The Sycamores, however, were aided by a whistle that put the team to the free throw line 47 times, converting 30 from the charity stripe.

The Braves return to action on Tuesday with a road game at Valparaiso. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
