PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore outside hitter Kat Poore (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Lewis Central) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Volleyball open Missouri Valley Conference play with a 2-1 record.
Poore averaged 2.46 kills and 1.15 blocks per set, while hitting at a .329 clip in the first three MVC matches of the 2019 season. She tallied a career-best 17 kills and hit .366, while adding four blocks in Friday's MVC opener against Southern Illinois. Poore followed that up with 10 kills on just 18 swings for a .556 attack percentage to help highlight Saturday's win against Missouri State. In Monday's road win at Indiana State, she had five kills and a career-high seven blocks. A political science major, Poore owns a 3.28 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Poore and Bradley Volleyball return to action Friday, hosting I-74 rival Illinois State in a 6 p.m. match at Renaissance Coliseum.
