The Bradley cross country teams are set for their final meet of the 2019 regular season with a small number of runners competing at Western Illinois' Leatherneck Open on Friday.

MEET INFO
The women's 6K race begins at 4:30 p.m. before the men's 8K follows at 5:15 p.m.

Seven Braves will feature in the women's race (Arsinoe Del Real, Aisling Joyce), Ally Lampert, Sam Lechowicz, Amelia Lesher, Emma Makowski and Kirstin Oakley), while four men are slated to run on Friday (Jon May, Evan Mitchell, Charlie Parrish and Ben Wagoner).

BRAVES IN THE RANKINGS
Bradley remains ranked in the USTFCCCA regional poll. The BU men are eighth in the latest Midwest rankings are the top school of four Valley teams that are ranked (Drake and Loyola are 12th and 13th, respectively, in the Midwest Region, while Valparaiso is 15th in the Great Lakes Region).

The Bradley women, meanwhile, are 11th in the latest Midwest poll. Loyola is the only other Valley schools featured in the rankings, coming in ninth.

DUO WINS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS
The Braves swept Valley Cross Country Athlete of the week honors on Tuesday as Jake Hoffert was named the male winner for the third time this season and McKenzie Altmayer collected the female accoade for the first time during her career.

Hoffert placed 59th at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational with a PR time of 24:22.1. His mark is the eighth-best time in school history and is also 13 seconds quicker than any other Valley runner this season. Altmayer placed second at the Bradley Pink Classic to help the Braves to the team title. Her time of 21:03.8 is also the fastest in the conference this season on a 6K course, 5.5 seconds ahead of teammate Tyler Schwartz.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Braves turn their focus toward the Missouri Valley Conference Championship next weekend. The Bradley men are aiming for their fifth-straight title, which would tie the conference record for most consecutive championships – Wichita State won five-straight from 1971 to 1975. The women are going for their third-straight crown and their fifth in the last six seasons. The Braves would be just the fourth school to win four-straight crowns, joining Illinois State (1982-84), Missouri State (2001-04) and Wichita State (2005-10).

The MVC Championship is slated for Saturday, Nov. 2 at Valparaiso with a 10:30 a.m. start time.
