Ben Wagoner Claims Individual Title at Leatherneck Open

Sophomore Ben Wagoner won his first collegiate cross country race on Friday, finishing first at the Western Illinois Leatherneck Open, while the Bradley women's team recorded five of the top six spots to win the individual title.
 
Wagoner ran the 8K course in 25:15.3 – outpacing teammate Charlie Parrish for the individual crown by nearly 50 seconds. Wagoner's time was more than 26 seconds faster than his previous PR and 31.6 seconds quicker than his top time this season.
 
Overall, the Braves posted the top three times on the men's side with Parrish finishing second in 26:05.1 and Jon May placing third in 26:51.1.
 
The Bradley women finished first of three teams with 20 points, topping host Western Illinois, who was second with 39 points. Aisling Joyce led the Braves and finished second overall with a 6K time of 22:32.2, while Kirstin Oakley (22:41.7), Arisinoe Del Real (22:52.2), Sam Lechowicz (23:02.0), and Ally Lampert (23:03.9) placed second through sixth.
 
The Braves now turn their attention toward the MVC Championship next Saturday at Valparaiso. The men begin the meet at 10:30 a.m. and aim for their fifth-straight title, while the women go for a three-peat at 11:30 a.m.
