Jake Hoffert Earns Second Valley Weekly Honors

Senior Jake Hoffert of the Bradley cross country team earned Missouri Valley Conference Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season, leading the Braves this past weekend at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational.

Racing against some of the nation's top runners in a meet that featured 11 nationally-ranked schools, Hoffert led BU by placing 28th overall of 165 runners during the men's five-mile race. The senior clocked a time of 23:59.46 to shave more than 37 seconds off his previous PR at the distance and finish as the top Bradley runner by nearly 49 seconds.

The 2017 Valley champion, Hoffert earned the weekly accolade for the second time following as many races this season. He was also named the MVC Athlete of the Week on Sept. 24 after winning the individual crown at the Bradley Intercollegiate in his season debut by 23 seconds.

It marks the third time overall during his career that Hoffert received the weekly honor.

Hoffert and the Braves are back in action on Oct. 18. Bradley will compete in a pair of meets that day with the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and Bradley Pink Classic on the slate.
