PEORIA, Ill. -- For the second consecutive year Bradley Volleyball has a First-Team Academic All-District V honoree with sophomore Hannah Thompson (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) earning the distinction according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.

One of two CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees from the Missouri Valley Conference along with Valparaiso junior Rylee Cookerly, Thompson is the first sophomore in program history to be named an Academic All-District selection.  Overall, Thompson is the 10th Brave to earn the award and Thompson's honor marks the sixth first-team pick for an individual from Bradley Volleyball.

Thompson, who will now appear on the ballot for Academic All-America consideration, is a health science major with a 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

The only player to rank in the top 10 in the MVC in both kills and digs per set, Thompson is seventh in the league in both categories.  She leads Bradley in both kills (3.17 per set) and digs (4.71 per set), while turning in 20 double-doubles this fall.

Thompson is the only player in the nation to have 300 or more kills and 460 or more digs this season as she closes in on 700 career kills and sits six digs short of 1,000 for her career.  Already the only player in school history with 900 career digs as a sophomore, she will likely become the 18th player in Bradley history to reach 1,000 career digs this weekend.  Her 697 career kills are the third most by a Brave prior to their junior year and Thompson is closing in on becoming the ninth player in school history with 700 kills and 1,000 career digs.

Earlier this season, Thompson had a school record streak of 15 consecutive double-doubles and she is one of two players in Bradley history to have two seasons with 20 or more double-doubles.  Thompson has led the team in kills 14 times and had the most digs in 12 outings this year, reaching the 20-dig mark in 12 different contests.  Her 40 career double-doubles are already tied for sixth in Bradley history.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his institution and be nominated by his sports information director.

Thompson and the Braves open the final regular-season road swing of the year Friday with a 6 p.m. match at Loyola.
