Bradley Falls to Northwestern in Fort Myers Tip-Off

Fort Myers, Fla. – The Bradley basketball team suffered a 78-51 loss to Northwestern in the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off on Monday night. The Braves are now 4-2 on the year, while the Wildcats improve to 3-2.
 
Junior Elijah Childs led Bradley with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks on the night. Senior Darrell Brown also scored in double figures with 13 points.
 
Bradley started the game with a 6-0 run but Northwestern quickly responded with 11-straight points and never looked back. With a 23-17 lead, the Wildcats used a further 9-0 run for a 32-17 advantage and Bradley was never within single-digits the rest of the game as Northwestern went into the locker room with a 39-21 lead.
 
The Braves had a more productive attack in the second half but it was not enough as Northwestern earned the victory and advanced to Wednesday's championship versus Pittsburgh.
 
The Wildcats shot 52.7 percent in the winning effort, which included a 10-of-20 clip from 3-point range. Pat Spencer led Northwestern with 23 points and eight assists.
 
The Braves look to rebound on Wednesday when they play Kansas State in the consolation game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off. Game time is set for 5 p.m. CT.
 
Game Notes: The schools were meeting for the first time since the 1985-86 season as Northwestern is now 9-1 all-time against Bradley … Bradley entered the game allowing opponents to shoot just 25.2 percent from 3-point range with the Wildcats nearly doubling that mark (50.0 percent) … The Braves have allowed 82 points in their two losses with a scoring defense of 57.5 in their four wins.
